Ellie May’s sponsored walk across Yorkshire

Every year my school runs a trip to our sister school in Namibia. 20 people are selected out of those who apply and they go for 2 weeks to help build and teach as well as learn from the people there. For the second week we walk across the desert with the help of the EHRA, a charity dedicated to helping humans understand elephants as well as learn how to map read, track animals and navigate by the stars. This year I was chosen to go and for one of the ways to earn the £2.4 thousand needed to get there I have decided to walk across Yorkshire.

The walk in total is 100 miles and crosses two national parks. It begins in Grassington and runs through the Yorkshire Dales into the beautiful North Yorkshire moors. These places have value to my mum and dads’ side of the family and we would love for members from each to join us for stages along the way. The route covers along some of the finest walking areas in Britain with scenery ranging from barren moorland to steep peaks. It would be an incredible journey to be able to cross this country with the people who have made it special for us, so I ask that you sponsor me with whatever you can so I can go on this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The route we followed is The Grassington to East Coast Walk, created by John White, also from Low Mill.
